Dr. Tina Calderone has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Seminole State College of Florida District Board of Trustees for a four-year term.
Calderone was elected to the School Board of Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) in November 2010 and has served continually since that time, including three terms as chair.
Her diverse background includes elements of education, marketing, sales, public relations, fundraising and training. She has held management positions at two national corporations, the Kirchman Corp. and Newtrend, where she founded and led their training departments, and later served as a regional vice president of sales. Calderone was also a college administrator for Stetson University and the University of Florida, and an adjunct faculty member for both Seminole State and University of Central Florida.
Additionally, Calderone served as the executive director of The Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools, the business manager for DeBary Dental and then the community relations manager for Lake Mary Life, Oviedo Winter Springs Life and Wekiva Springs Life magazines.
Calderone earned her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Elementary Education from Central Connecticut State University. She then went on to receive a master’s in educational administration and doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Florida.
Calderone’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. She replaces Jeffrey Bauer, whose term officially ended May 31 and due to health reasons did not seek reappointment.
The Board of Trustees, made up of members appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Florida Senate, meets monthly to oversee the operations of the College.
