Are you ready to tailgate?
On Tuesday, Feb. 28, Seminole State’s Career Development Center (CDC) will host a Career Tailgate on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus, designed to connect students with working professionals in a fun, casual and interactive environment.
The Career Tailgate will take place from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room (C-110). The event will include employers from the fields of healthcare, public safety, education and social/behavioral sciences.
The Career Tailgate will feature a sports theme related to March Madness. Food and drinks will be provided.
Students will be encouraged to move around the room in a roundtable discussion format to meet with professionals from their fields of interest.
This format gives students the opportunity to ask career-related questions, get advice or just listen as others share their stories.
Students are invited to come and go as needed during the two-hour event window.
The Career Tailgate idea began in Fall 2016, when the Career Development Center hosted the first Career Crawl.
The event was attended by over 70 students and hosted a total of nine professionals from the industries of education, healthcare, social/behavioral sciences and public safety.
Over 82 percent of students who attended the first Career Crawl “strongly agreed or agreed” that the event helped increase their confidence in making academic and career choices.
A firm list of specific professionals attending each panel will be available on the CDC events webpage as the date approaches.
Seminole State's Career Fair will feature more than 20 employers from various fields. Students and other job seekers will be able to find employment and internship opportunities as well as explore career fields.
The Career Fair is set for Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Heathrow Campus with a focus on business, information technology and digital media/graphic design careers.
A second Career Fair will be held on Tuesday, March 28, from 4 - 7 p.m. focusing on industry/manufacturing, construction and interior design.
A list of employers attending the event will be available on the CDC events webpage as the date approaches.
