The Hispanic Heritage Scholarship Fund of Metro Orlando has selected a Seminole State College of Florida student to receive a $5,000 scholarship.
Jomaris Sotomayor is one of 21 students in Central Florida receiving a $5,000 scholarship, $2,500 for fall and $2,500 for spring.
Sotomayor is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business and Information Management and says the scholarship is a blessing.
“It’s such a big accomplishment and helps me so much. I’m not able to get any financial aid so that’s one less stress, and I’m able to concentrate more on my educational goals, said Sotomayor.
She and the other scholarship winners will be honored during the 17th Annual Awards Ceremony on Friday, Oct. 28, at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
The Hispanic Heritage Scholarship Fund is the largest nonprofit organization in Central Florida dedicated to providing scholarships to Hispanic students who are pursuing a college or university degree.
