Be prepared for hurricane season

When the calendar flips to June, it’s time to switch to prepare mode. Hurricane season runs from this Monday, June 1 through Monday, Nov. 30 and Seminole State College of Florida wants you to be prepared.
In efforts to keep you informed and safe, Seminole State’s Emergency Response Team offers these hurricane safety tips.
Preparing for a hurricane
Register for emergency text alerts from Seminole State.
To sign up to receive any emergency text messages from Seminole State:
- Go to Alert Seminole's website.
- Click the "SIGN UP HERE" button.
- Complete the requested information, including how you wish to be notified (select a phone for text messaging) and what you wish to be notified about (weather and/or other emergencies).
- Select "Seminole State College" as the group near the bottom of this page.
- Click "Continue" to select additional options or to complete the enrollment process.
Monitor the College’s website, Facebook and Twitter for updates.
Program the emergency hotline -- 407.708.2290 -- into your phone. This hotline is updated with emergency information as it becomes available.
Have access to a battery-powered weather radio and monitor news sites for updates on the path of a storm.
Have a plan. Discuss your preparedness plans with family and friends and be ready in case of an emergency.

How you'll be notified of an emergency
Students will be notified of an emergency through different means of communications.
Student registered for emergency text alerts will receive messaging on their cellphones.
All students will receive emails with communications when updates are available.
Updates regarding the Campus for faculty, staff and students will be posted on the Seminole State's website and the College’s Facebook and Twitter sites.
