Enrolling in Online Classes

Starting Online Classes

Our Getting Started in Online Classes video (at the top of the page) will provide you with the necessary information to begin your successful career as an online student at Seminole State.


Canvas is Seminole State College's learning management system. All online classes are taught using Canvas. A number of hybrid and campus classes also use Canvas.

While these are the basic system requirements for Canvas, your particular course may use software with higher computer requirements. Contact your faculty members for specific computer requirements for their courses.

Online Tutoring and Academic Help

All currently enrolled Seminole State students have access to online tutoring and general academic help, available 24 hours a day through Smarthinking. Students may access Smarthinking's online resources through their Canvas accounts.

Student Services for Online Students

The Office of eServices is able to assist eLearning students with admissions, academic advising, financial aid, registration and more. Email or visit the eServices website.

Library Resources

The Seminole State Library offers the following services for distance learning students:

  • Email a Librarian: Send an email to for assistance.
  • Virtual Library Database Access: Search the library's database online from any computer.
    • Borrower ID: Your MySeminoleState/Canvas username
    • PIN: The last four digits of your Social Security number or the last four digits of your Seminole State ID number
  • Library Cards: Your Blue & Gold Card also serves as your library card and provides access to many library services.
