LEO0461 First Responder to the Active Shooter

This is an advanced/specialized training course for law enforcement or corrections officers. This 8-hour course introduces law enforcement officers to the new tactical concepts utilized to respond to critical incidents involving extraordinary acts of violence. Incidents involving on-going violence require an active law enforcement to "move the contact"- the subject responsible for causing harm. This course discusses with the law enforcement officer the history and evolution of this change in law enforcement response. Attire/equipment: wear suitable clothing for practical training exercises. Bring duty belt with no live ammunition and a training/blue gun (if available). Students should have successfully completed the basic training course or have been exempted and possess sufficient experience and background to meet the standard core of knowledge. Students successfully completing this course are eligible for mandatory retraining requirements.
