AHS1200300 Basic Mathematics Skills

This course is an elective credit for students exiting Intensive Math (AHS 1200400) to develop the skills necessary for success in Algebra I. The fundamental purpose of this course is to formalize and extend the mathematics that students learned in previous courses. The critical areas deepen and extend understanding of operations and variables, ratio and proportion, equations, algebraic expressions, square roots and graphs are included topics of study. The Standards for Mathematical Practice apply throughout each course and together with the content standards, prescribe that students experience mathematics as a coherent, useful and logical subject that makes use of their ability to make sense of problem situations. This course will cover 44 standards.

Prerequisite: AHS 1200400 with a grade of "C" or higher or placement testing.
