AHS1206300B Informal Geometry

The fundamental purpose of this course is to extend students’ geometric experiences from the middle grades. Students will explore complex geometric situations and deepen their explanations of geometric relationships. Important differences exist between this course and the historical approach taken in Geometry classes. Transformations are emphasized early in this course. The Standards for Mathematical Practice apply throughout each course and, together with the content standards, prescribe that students experience mathematics as a coherent, useful and logical subject that makes use of the student’s ability to make sense of problem situations. This course serves as a bridge and foundation for students transitioning between Algebra I and traditional Geometry. The course content does not align with the Florida End-of-Course (EOC) Assessment required for graduation.

Prerequisite: AHS 1206300A with a grade of "C" or higher.
