Interim Vice President, Financial Services/CFO
Rick Collins recently retired from his position as the chief financial officer (CFO) for the Orange County School District. Since his retirement, he has been working with the Florida Association of School Superintendents (FADSS), providing technical assistance to school districts throughout the state.
He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting, from the University of Central Florida. He received his C.P.A. certificate in 1981.
Collins performed audits of state and local governments for six years while working for the Office of the Auditor General. He then served in various capacities for the Orange County School District for nearly 11 years with his final role as the director of budget and finance. In 1995, he joined the Osceola County School District, where he served as the assistant superintendent for business services for 11 years. In September 2006, Collins assumed the role of CFO of the Orange County School District, the 10th-largest school district in the country. During his tenure, the school district was upgraded by each of the three major rating agencies and is now the highest rated school district in the state. Collins was selected as the CFO of the Year - Governmental Category by the Orlando Business Journal in 2012. Collins also serves on the board of directors of Addition Financial.
