Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP)Unemployed veterans ages 35-60 who attend Seminole State College are now eligible to participate in the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP), a program designed to help them learn or refamiliarize themselves with the skills necessary to perform high-demand jobs. The program will provide a monthly stipend to help with educational expenses, similar to the GI Bill. However, unlike the GI Bill, VRAP is only available temporarily. Veterans wishing to take part in the program must apply for VRAP benefits no later than March 31, 2013. Seminole State offers more than 25 career or professional programs in areas that have been approved as high-demand by the U.S. Department of Labor, including:
To use the VRAP at Seminole State, students must be accepted to the College under an approved program and present a copy of their certificate of eligibility (VRAP approval letter) to the Veterans Affairs Office to request an enrollment certification. It is recommended to apply to the College and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at the same time.
