Dr. J. Patrick Fitzgerald, Manager of Television and Digital Cinema ProductionJ. Patrick Fitzgerald is manager of Seminole State's Television and Digital Cinema Program and also teaches philosophy. He holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in philosophy from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Fitzgerald co-founded the Television and Digital Cinema Program, which has garnered numerous regional and national awards. Many graduating film students have gone on to prestigious film programs and/or have obtained successful positions in the film and television industry. As a producer, Fitzgerald has created a wide variety of programs, covering everything from important social and environmental issues to music videos and entertainment. A dedicated humanitarian and environmentalist, Fitzgerald has produced programs that promote environmental awareness, animal rights, local history, child development, art education, health education and the physically challenged. Portions of his programs have appeared on HBO, MTV, VH1, Time Warner, USA and PBS. Fitzgerald, who has been mentioned in Who’s Who Among American Teachers, is an accomplished independent filmmaker whose works have been distributed nationally. One of his more notable projects is an 18-episode series on philosophy, "A Parliament of Minds," which aired between 2000 and 2003 on national PBS. In November 2006, his film "Mad Cowboy" received the Artivist Hollywood Film Festival Award for "Best Feature Documentary." More recently, "Mad Cowboy" was awarded the 2009 Best Socially Conscious Film Award at the Burbank International Film Festival. |
