Assessment and Testing

Decision Tree

Seminole State is a comprehensive college. We offer a variety of programs to help you meet your educational, professional and personal goals.

As part of Florida's educational system, Seminole State students must meet certain testing requirements to:

  • Enroll in a program
  • Graduate from or complete some programs

Do you know what test(s) you need to take?

Yes     No

Test requirements are based on the academic program, and individual tests are subject to their own rules. Seminole State also maintains its own guidelines and must follow those set by the state, including:

  • All required tests can be taken at the Seminole State's Assessment and Testing Center.
  • If you have taken a required test outside of the Assessment and Testing Center, you are responsible for getting your scores to Seminole State.
  • SAT and ACT scores should not be more than two years old. If they are older than two years, you may need to take the Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT).
  • Scoring low or failing part or all sections of a test does not necessarily mean that you won't be admitted to a certain program. You may, however, have to take developmental courses before you enroll in the program and/or work with Seminole State's STAR Center while you are enrolled in the program. Speak to the Admissions Office or a College counselor for more information.
