Parking and Construction on the Sanford/Lake Mary CampusSeminole State is in the midst of a major construction and renovation campaign, which will transform buildings, roadways and parking on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. Fall 2009 Parking ChangesStudents - A 1,400-space parking lot is now open on the northwest side of campus, near the CFADA Professional Automotive Training Center. A 396-space lot has also opened on the south side of campus, near the College's new water feature and the loop roadway construction project.
Parking lots 9 and 10, located near First and Broadmoor roads have been converted to faculty/staff parking and are no longer available for student use.- Parking Lot 5, located east of the fire simulation tower, has been expanded and renovated for student use. The lot in front of the new Center for Public Safety (formerly buildings I and K) has also been expanded for student parking.
Faculty/Staff - Parking lots 9 and 10, previously designated for student use, have been converted to faculty/staff lots. The adjacent Parking Lot 8 is also a faculty/staff lot. The parking area is located on the west side of campus, near First and Broadmoor roads.
- Parking around building M is now designated for faculty/staff use. Portions of parking lots B and D are also reserved for employees.
Visitors Lot Closures- Due to ongoing construction projects, no parking or through traffic is permitted along the back of the Fine Arts Building (building G) or tennis courts.
- All temporary grass parking lots have been closed as a result of multiple permanent lot openings.
Future Parking
Other Notes- Signage will be placed around campus roadways to direct drivers to proper parking areas.
- Lots and spaces designated for faculty/staff use will be monitored by Seminole State's security staff.
- Parking in grassy areas other than where designated is prohibited, and violators may be towed.
Construction Updates Completed in August, the 59,000-square-foot Center for Public Safety houses Seminole State's Criminal Justice, Fire Science and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) programs. The $17.6 million venture, led by Wharton-Smith Inc., began in June 2008. Two existing buildings — I and K — were completely renovated, and a new administrative wing was built to connect them.
The official dedication of the Center is scheduled for Oct. 30.
Construction on another part of the project, a $2 million fire simulation tower, wrapped up in August 2008. The structure includes three simulation rooms and special training props, which allow for live firefighter training on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. It is the only facility of its kind in Seminole County. The $30 million Partnership Center is being constructed east of building A. The four-story, 100,000-square-foot facility will feature classroom and office space for Seminole State and the University of Central Florida, as well as a two-story research library designed to meet the evolving needs of students. The Balfour Beatty project began in July 2008 and is on schedule to be completed during the Spring 2010 Term. Currently, crews are painting, laying carpet and installing ceiling tiles inside the building. Outside, they are putting in planters and completing the hardscape (walkways, patios, etc.).
When finished, the Partnership Center will overlook a new 4.5-acre lake and water feature.

A roundabout and stretch of road are being built by Cathcart Contracting and Neel-Schaffer engineering on the south side of campus to compensate for the May 2008 closing of part of Weldon Boulevard. The new roadway will connect the remaining section of Weldon Boulevard with West County Home Road and College Drive to create a loop road around the campus' perimeter.
The project is expected to be completed by December. In the meantime, motorists should expect occasional delays as flagmen direct traffic through the construction area.
Other Projects- Covered walkway construction: Several covered walkways are being built around the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus, which will connect the Center for Public Safety and building V; the CFADA Professional Automotive Training Center and the Student Center (building C); and buildings A, G and H.
The covered walkway between the Center for Public Safety and building V has been completed. A routing plan has been developed to direct pedestrian traffic around the remaining construction areas until they are finished. The plan includes Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) considerations and does not obstruct access to the new 1,400-space north parking lot.
- Window replacement: Windows are being replaced on the first and second floors of the Weldon Administration Building. The project should be finished by the end of December.
- E building renovation: In February 2009, Southern Builders completed an $800,000 renovation of building E, which primarily houses faculty offices. The facility was originally constructed in 1973.
