CPR Certification
It is strongly recommended that prospective applicants to the Physical Therapist Assistant Program obtain and include proof of current CPR certification in Basic Life Support. Once certification is received, a photocopy of the student's card, indicating date of expiration, should be included in the application. Achievement of certification may be considered in the selection of competitive candidates.
This course may be taken from any of these agencies:
- American Heart Association (AHA): Take the Basic Life Support Certification Course for Healthcare Providers. This certification must be renewed after two years.
- American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI): Get certified in professional-level CPR, which includes CPR/AED.
- American Red Cross: Take the Professional Rescuer Course, which includes CPR/AED. This certification must be renewed after one year.
