Office Administration

In today's workplace, the office support staff is an essential part of the team. A variety of clerical and administrative duties are necessary to run and maintain organizations efficiently. A few of the tasks that support management activities include scheduling appointments, preparing letters and other documents, assisting callers and operating office equipment and computers. Specific duties as a technical office specialist depend on the type of business and level of responsibility. If you have good communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to organize activities and the willingness to assume responsibility, this could be the career for you.

Seminole State College offers a variety of educational choices in office administration. All of our programs provide the foundation students need to achieve success in today's workplace. Benefits of our certificates and degrees include:

  • Flexible scheduling, with day, evening and online classes.
  • An experienced faculty that stays abreast on cutting-edge office technologies.
  • A real-world curriculum that prepares students to be preferred job candidate.
  • Being able to take advantage of a bustling job market once a certificate or degree is earned.
  • Certificates that can be earned in as little as one semester.
  • Courses that can be taken to upgrade skills for all of the programs in the latest version of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Certificates that lead to an A.S. degree in office administration or accounting technology.
  • Alternative ways to earn credits, such as credit-by-exam and work internships.
  • International Association of Administrative Professionals CPS or CAP certification.

Students who are enrolled in Seminole State's Office Administration Program are encouraged to join Phi Beta Lambda, a professional business organization. PBL prepares students for successful careers in business, and students are given opportunities to compete in events that test their business acumen.

Seminole State students have consistently won the most awards in the State of Florida over the past 10 years. Students who win first or second place at the State Conference have an opportunity to compete at the National Conference.

All of Seminole State's office administration Associate in Science degree programs articulate into the University of Central Florida's Bachelor of Applied Science degree program, which is offered at UCF's regional campus on Seminole State's Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.
