Gerrie Helwig Scholarship

The Florida Council of Operating Room Nurses sponsors this scholarship to aid a student who has demonstrated an interest in perioperative nursing and promote perioperative nursing as a specialty. Operating room nurses are now referred to as perioperative nurses to more accurately reflect their duties immediately before, during, and after surgery. Scholarships are awarded during the FNA annual convention.

Application Process:

Obtain application from Judy Laney in the Seminole State Nursing Office and include the certification statement from Laura Aromando. Send to Address listed on application.

Criteria for Selection:

Applicant must:

• be in the final year of an accredited nursing program
• demonstrate a desire to enter a perioperative nursing course internship or have already completed such
• have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
