Central Florida Black Nurses Association Scholarship Guidelines for 2008-09

Criteria

  • Candidate must be of African American heritage/and or minority.
  • Must be a resident of Brevard, Lake Orange, Osceola, Polk, or Seminole County.
  • Must currently be enrolled full-time in an accredited nursing program (LPN, AD, BSN, MSN, PhD, and DNP).
  • Must be in good scholastic standing at the time of application, maintained a cumulative GPA 2.5 or above.
  • Has a significant financial need.
  • Must show participation and/or involvement in community activities.
  • Must be a member of the CFBNA at the time application is submitted. (Ask for details).

Scholarship Amount

  • $250 - $1,000

Application Deadline

  • June 16, 2008

Requirements

Applicant must provide the following:

  • An official transcript from an accredited school.
  • Scholarship Application
  • Two letters of recommendation, from supervisor at work, professor, minister, community leader.
  • Evidence of participation in or involvement in community service.
  • Essay on professional expectations, long term and short term goals.
  • Please mail application and all supporting documentations together in No. 8 (8 1/2 x 11) brown envelope.

Nomination Process

  • Provide above list by the deadline.
  • Must make a personal appearance at the CFBNA meeting in August for an interview.
  • Recipient must be present at the CFBNA Scholarship luncheon in Sept. 27, 2008.
