American Legion Scholarship

The American Legion of Sanford offers scholarships every year during Term II. One of the major community service projects the group of veterans spearheads is assistance for students in nursing education programs across the country. The group organizes fundraisers to support their mission, and each year – usually in April or May – invites students to its Sanford location for a scholarship awards dinner.

Eligibility:

• Students currently enrolled in the A.S. Degree Nursing Program.
• First and Second year students may apply.

Amount:

$500 offered once a year.

Application Process:

Submit a letter addressed to the Scholarship Committee of the Associate Degree Nursing Program, which addresses your interest in the scholarship, goals, financial need, and grade point average.

Criteria for Selection:

• Financial need
• Clinical and academic performance
• Availability to attend evening meeting in Sanford

Place applications in Judy Laney's folder in the student area of the Nursing Office.
