The National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses® Exam

The National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN)® is developed and controlled by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. This nationally recognized exam:

  • Is a State of Florida requirement for earning a nursing A.S. degree.
  • Measures your nursing knowledge and competencies.
  • Determines your eligibility to earn an RN license and begin working as an RN.

What is the National Council of State Boards of Nursing?

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing:

  • Promotes safe and effective nursing practices.
  • Develops nursing licensing examinations.
  • Controls nursing exam administration and scores.

What does the exam content include?

The NCLEX-RN continually evolves to ensure that its content:

  • Is elated to the job functions most commonly required of entry-level RNs.
  • Reflects up-to-date medical knowledge.

Client needs are the foundation for:

  • Determining an RN's actions.
  • Measuring an RN's competencies.

The NCLEX exam is divided into four major client needs categories:

  • Physiological Adaptation
