Application Procedures
Students may enter the Career Transition into Professional Nursing Associate in Science (A.S.) degree program each June during the Summer Term. Lecture content is offered in a hybrid format (classroom meetings with some online learning activities), and clinicals are held at area hospitals. Clinical hours and times may vary per semester. Students must also attend on-campus labs.
To apply to the Career Transition into Professional Nursing A.S. degree program:
- Complete a criminal background check.
All students entering a healthcare program with a clinical component will be required to complete a criminal background check. Students must be free of offenses that could potentially disqualify them from working in a healthcare environment (Florida Statute 400.211). Admission into clinicals is at the discretion of the clinical agencies. - Apply to Seminole State College.
You must be accepted to Seminole State before you can be accepted to a nursing program. - Review the information packet and the Frequently Asked Questions Web page.
These pages will provide information regarding admissions criteria, course sequences and program requirements. Bring additional questions to the mandatory information session. For immediate concerns, e-mail the Nursing Admissions Office, or call 407.404.6006. - Attend a mandatory information session.
You cannot apply to the Nursing Program without attending an information session. During the information session, you will receive the necessary application package. - Take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS®) at Seminole State's Assessment and Testing Center.
You must take the TEAS® and earn at least a 73 percent adjusted individual total score before you can be admitted to a nursing program. Note: Students who apply to the June 2010 RN Career Transition Program may use NET scores earned between Jan. 1, 2008, and Dec. 31, 2008. For more information, review the notice on the Nursing Department's home page. - Submit the completed application package to the Admissions Office by the stated deadline.
Your application must be in a sealed envelope and delivered in person. We do not accept nursing application packets by mail. Letters will be sent to all applicants four to six weeks after the deadline date.
How Do I Get Additional Information?
It is recommended that students visit a counselor or academic adviser for guidance in course selection, sequencing and scheduling. Financial assistance and scholarship opportunities are available. All services are free and available at any Seminole State campus. The Seminole State College Catalog can be obtained from the Admissions Office or viewed online.
