Application Procedures
Students have two opportunities to enter the Associate in Science in Nursing Generic Program each year: August for the day track, and January for the evening/weekend track. Lecture, lab and clinical schedules vary each term; review the Frequently Asked Questions Web Page for schedule details. It is the student's responsibility to arrange transportation and childcare during clinical hours.
To apply to the Nursing Generic Track A.S. Degree Program (day and evening/weekend tracks):
- Submit to a criminal background check. All students entering a healthcare program with a clinical component are required to complete a criminal background check. Students must be free of offenses, which could potentially disqualify them from working in a healthcare environment (Florida Statute 400.211). Admission into clinicals is at the discretion of the clinical agencies.
- Apply to Seminole State College. You must be accepted to Seminole State before you can be accepted to a nursing program. For more information on Seminole State's application procedures, visit our Admissions Department home page.
- Review the Generic RN information packet and the Frequently Asked Questions Web page for admissions criteria, course sequences and program requirements. Bring additional questions to the mandatory information session. For immediate concerns, e-mail the Nursing Admissions Office or call 407.404.6006.
- Attend a mandatory Nursing Information Session. You cannot apply to Seminole State's Nursing Program without attending an information session. You will receive the necessary application materials during the session.
- Take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS®) at Seminole State's Assessment and Testing Center. You must earn at least a 73 percent adjusted individual total score before you can be admitted to the Nursing Generic Track Program.
- Submit your completed application packet to the Admissions Office by the stated deadline. Your application materials must be placed in a sealed envelope. We will not accept nursing application packets by mail. Letters will be sent to all applicants four to six weeks after the deadline date.
How Do I Get Additional Information?
