What’s happening: Get social this summer!

Join in on all of the summertime fun happening around Seminole State.

Summertime has finally arrived. While you’re getting ahead on classes, take some time out to enjoy the fun things taking place around campus.

“Sizzling Summer” Welcome Back

Student Life is kicking off the semester with “Sizzling Summer” Welcome Back Days. The events, held on each campus from noon – 2 p.m., will feature liquid nitrogen gas ice cream, snow cones, games, giveaways and more:

  • Altamonte Springs Campus: Thursday, May 16; Outside main entrance
  • Heathrow Campus: Tuesday, May 14; Outside main entrance
  • Oviedo Campus: Thursday, May 16; Patio
  • Sanford/Lake Mary Campus: Wednesday, May 15; Student Center Green

Intramural Sports

Show off your skills during special summer yard games of horseshoes, corn hole, tug-o-war and more. There’s no need to pre-register. Just show up and join the fun! All yard games take place from noon – 3 p.m. Here’s the full list of event dates and locations.

Social Madness Challenge

Seminole State is competing to be named a social media superstar! The College is participating in the Business Journals Social Madness competition, a one-of-a-kind local and national challenge that spotlights the best social media programs of companies and organizations.

Beginning Monday, June 3, help us win by voting daily for Seminole State and by liking us on Facebook and following us on Twitter and LinkedIn. Once the local competition starts, we’ll provide the link to vote on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Local winners will be announced on Tuesday, July 9, and will advance to the national competition. Winners in the national competition will have $10,000 donations made on their behalf to the charity of their choice. To learn more, visit the Orlando Business Journal’s Social Madness blog.

Free Career Services

It’s never too early to start planning for a career. Stop in to the Career Development Center for help with résumés, interviews, jobs, internships and more. You can also set up an appointment for one-on-one sessions. Be sure to take advantage of free online resources including, CareerLink and Seminars on Demand.
