Emergency tests planned March 19 and 20

Seminole State College will test its emergency communication tools on Tuesday, March 19, and Wednesday, March 20, to provide critical information to students, staff and faculty members, family members and the public.

Emergency Alert Phone System

Seminole State will test its Emergency Alert Phone System at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, and Wednesday, March 20.

The timing of these tests is designed to familiarize day and evening students, faculty and staff with the system.

The phone test will last about 90 seconds.

Here's what to expect:

  • An emergency sound will emanate from the speakers of all campus phones, followed by a brief test message.
  • Phone calls will be placed on hold during the 90-second test.
  • A text message will follow on Cisco IP phones. Hit "Exit" to remove the text message.

Text messaging

Those signed up for emergency texts through Alert Seminole should receive a test text message at 10:30 a.m. on March 19. To sign up for emergency text messaging, visit Seminole State Alert.

College website

From 10:30-11:30 a.m. on March 19, Seminole State will test its emergency website. A scrolling message will be seen at the top of nearly all College Web pages.

Emergency hotline

The hotline (407.708.2290) will be updated with information about the test.

Please contact the HelpDesk at 407.708.2000 if you have any questions, or visit the Seminole State Alert website.
