Nursing graduates achieve perfect score on exam

Seminole State's nursing graduates achieved a 100 percent pass rate this year on their licensure exams.

Graduates of Seminole State College of Florida’s nursing program have achieved a perfect 100 percent pass rate this year on their licensure exams, according to results recently released by the Florida Board of Nursing.

All of Seminole State’s 70 Associate in Science (A.S.) RN graduates who took the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) between January and September passed on their first try.

Seminole State’s nursing program is one of only two in Florida with 25 or more students whose graduates achieved a 100 percent year-to-date pass rate on the NCLEX-RN, according to the report.

“This outstanding pass rate reflects the high caliber of our students and the sustained excellence of our faculty and curriculum,” says Cheryl Cicotti, associate dean for Healthcare Programs. “It also reflects the rigor of the clinical experience provided by our hospital partners.”

NCLEX is the state-required exam that determines whether graduates are prepared for entry-level nursing practice.

Seminole State is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).

Northwest Florida State College was the only other Florida program to achieve a perfect score.

The national average pass rate for first-time candidates is about 90 percent.

Seminole State’s nursing programs are based at the Altamonte Springs Campus, which features 16 state-of-the-art healthcare labs and high-tech patient simulators. For more information, visit the  nursing website.
