What's happening for students in Fall B Session

Students have a lot to look forward to in the second half of Fall Term 2012, including several fine arts events and the College's graduation ceremony.

The Fall Term is in full swing, and so are the activities at Seminole State. As the term continues, be sure to take advantage of the free services and fun events available to you.

Academic Success Center

Need a little extra help with your classes this term? Set yourself up for success by visiting the Academic Success Center (ASC) for free tutoring in a variety of subjects, including Math, English, science and Spanish. The ASC staff can also help you learn study skills, time management, test-taking strategies and more.

Students also have access to the open computer lab in the Academic Success Center on each campus. Computer lab and tutoring hours vary, so check the ASC website to see what’s available on your campus.

Career Development Center

The time to plan for your future career is now. To give you a head start, the Career Development Center is hosting Career Fair 2012 on Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. More than 30 potential employers will be on hand to discuss career opportunities. Participants are encouraged to dress professionally and bring several copies of their résumés.

If you’re not sure that your résumé shines, attend a Résumé Review at the Career Development Center to polish it before the career fair. Staff will give you the tips you need to put your best self forward on paper and in person.

Fine Arts

The annual Faculty Art Exhibit opens Nov. 8 in the Fine Arts Gallery (building G). Don't miss this opportunity to see the work of Seminole State’s art faculty. The exhibit will be on display through Dec. 13.

There are also several theater and music performances left this term, and all are free for students with a valid Blue & Gold Card. The musical “Cabaret” takes the stage at the Fine Arts Theatre Nov. 30 - Dec. 9, and the Music Department’s events continue October-December with the Encore! Concert Series, student recitals and more.

Fall Term Graduation

Congratulations to all of our students graduating this fall! The number of graduates is constantly increasing. To meet the demand for more space, the College is holding its Fall Term graduation ceremony on Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. in the UCF Arena on the UCF Main Campus in Orlando. More space for graduates also means more space for guests to come and celebrate your achievements with you.

As you gear up for graduation, visit the graduation website regularly for the latest information about the ceremony, tickets and parking, and remember to submit your graduation application by Oct. 26.

For more information about what there is to see and do at Seminole State, check out the Student Life Office’s Fall 2012 Guide.
