College officials placed a time capsule in the Oviedo clock tower.
To mark the 10th anniversary of the Oviedo Campus at Seminole State College of Florida, a time capsule was installed inside the iconic clock tower.
The capsule, a first for Seminole State, is scheduled to be opened in 2026. The Campus Provost Office contacted Student Government Association leaders; College administrators, faculty and staff; and the City of Oviedo for their suggestions.
Here are the items placed in the time capsule during the morning ceremony:
- Oviedo groundbreaking program (1998)
- Oviedo dedication program (2001)
- DirectConnect to UCF brochure
- Copy of 10th Anniversary Celebration program (2011)
- Bookmark from groundbreaking (1998)
- Flash drive with current catalog on it (2011)
- Pathways brochure (Degrees of Success) (2011)
- Clock giveaway (2011)
- Catalog 2000-2001
- 2 options for Oviedo master plan, 8 1/2 x 11 color photocopies (2011)
- City of Oviedo resolution (unframed) (2011)
- 1 SCC T-shirt
- 1 Seminole State T-shirt
- Seminole County map
- Debbie Socci's environmental paper about the campus
- Professor Barbara Hunnicutt's booklet "Landscape Plants of Seminole Community College"

- "In your back yard" poster/flier advertising Fall 2001 classes
- A picture of Elf, the kitten that was abandoned on campus and adopted in 2007
