The Foundation for Seminole State College received an Award of Excellence from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education during its District III Conference in Tampa on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
The award, presented in the Educational Fundraising Projects category, recognized the Foundation's October 2009 Blue & Gold Circle employee giving campaign.
Titled "Food for Thought," the campaign challenged faculty and staff to nourish minds at Seminole State by donating to the College's areas of greatest need or to a particular program or scholarship. To kick off the monthlong initiative and encourage participation, the Foundation gave every employee a reusable Blue & Gold Circle lunch bag.
Overall, 218 faculty and staff members — nearly 30 percent — responded, donating $75,565 in the form of payroll deductions and one-time gifts. The figure marks a 10.1 percent increase over 2008.
The Blue & Gold Circle is an annual donor club created specifically for Seminole State employees who give back to the College. For more information, please visit the Blue & Gold Circle home page.
