Frequently Asked Questions

MySeminoleState is an online portal offering Seminole State students, faculty and staff a secure and convenient gateway for accessing e-mail, registering for classes, checking grades, updating personal information, checking financial aid information, and even paying for classes.

How do students access MySeminoleState?
  1. Visit the MySeminoleState website at my.seminolestate.edu.
  2. If you already have an account, enter your login name and password.
  3. Click the "Login" button.
  4. If you do not have an account, you will be required to create one during your initial MySeminoleState session. Click "Create New Student Account," and fill in the blank fields with your information.
Why do I have to create an account?

Seminole State College is working hard to achieve two goals:

  • To centralize the authentication process by establishing a single log-on environment that allows you to use one login name and password to access all Web services.
  • To assure a secure workplace by using the latest encryption technology.

All students are required to create their own login name and password during their initial MySeminoleState session.

What if I don't have a Social Security number?

Students who do not have a Social Security number should contact the Seminole State International Student Office or call 407.708.2050 to obtain the appropriate information for creating an account.

What is a "Login Name"?

Your login name is your universal access ID to all Seminole State computer resources. In addition to accessing MySeminoleState, your login name will be used to create your Live Mail student e-mail account and provide you with access to the College's network system. You are encouraged to use good judgment when creating your login name.

Your login name must contain between five and eight characters. Keep in mind that your login name is case sensitive, so capitalization does matter. The system will accept letters and numbers only; spaces and punctuation marks are not valid. Examples of appropriate login names: johndoe1 or 123JANE.

Make sure you remember your login name!

What is a "Password"?

Your password is the second half of the login validation process. It must contain at least five characters and is also case sensitive.

Why am I required to select a security question and provide a response when creating my MySeminoleState account?

If you forget your password, you can reset it electronically by clicking "Forgot Your Login Name and Password" in the MySeminoleState login box.

The security question and response you provide while creating your account will be used to authenticate you when resetting your password.

How do I change my password?
  1. Log into MySeminoleState.
  2. Click the "Change My Password" link in the left-hand menu.
  3. Enter your current password, followed by your new password.
  4. Click "Change Password."
What is a Seminole State ID number?

This seven-digit number uniquely identifies you in Seminole State's student records system. Upon your admission to the College, you will be assigned a student ID number, which, for your personal security, will be used for identification purposes throughout your career at Seminole State. Your student ID number is used instead of your Social Security number.

After logging into MySeminoleState, you can locate your student ID number in the "Welcome" bar at the top of the page.

Who can use MySeminoleState to register for classes?

All current college-credit students may use MySeminoleState to register for classes and access their student records. Vocational, adult high school, adult education, ESOL and Language Institute students, as well as alumni, may use MySeminoleState to access their student records only.

Community members and students who have not yet been admitted to the College may access MySeminoleState's Guest Resources menu to search the College catalog and course schedule. New students must complete all Seminole State admissions requirements and attend an orientation before they can use MySeminoleState for registration purposes,.

How do I look up open class sections?
  1. Visit the MySeminoleState website at my.seminolestate.edu.
  2. Select "View Class Schedule" on the Guest Resources menu.
  3. Select the appropriate term and the "Search for Classes" radio button.
  4. Click "Go."
  5. Select at least two search criteria and click "Search" to see the results.

You may now view all available classes for a course. You will need both the catalog and class number to register for a class.

How do I find my grades?

Seminole State does not mail grades. You may view your grades online via MySeminoleState.

  1. Visit the MySeminoleState website at my.seminolestate.edu.
  2. Log in with your valid login name and password.
  3. Click the "Student Center" link in the left-hand menu.
  4. Under Academics/Academic History, click "Grades."
  5. Select the term/career you wish to view.
What is Live Mail?

Live Mail is Seminole State's free student e-mail system. A Live Mail account will be created for all students with a valid login name. Once you have created your MySeminoleState account and registered for classes, your Live Mail account will be available within 24 to 48 business hours.

Example:

  • MySeminoleState login name = johndoe1
  • Live Mail login name = johndoe1
  • Live Mail e-mail address = johndoe1@live.seminolestate.edu
Can I access MySeminoleState from off campus?

You can access MySeminoleState 24 hours a day, seven days a week from any computer with Internet access.

  1. Visit the MySeminoleState website at my.seminolestate.edu.
  2. Login with you valid login name and password.
Why do I keep getting bumped off MySeminoleState?

The most probable reason is that MySeminoleState has a 20-minute timeout limit. If the site detects no activity for 20 minutes, you will be logged out and returned to the MySeminoleState home page. This is to protect your data from unauthorized access.

How do I know when my fees are due?

After you have registered for your courses, check your due charges in the Student Center. Don't forget to note the payment due date. If you do not pay your fees or defer payment (available only if you receive financial aid) by the payment due date, you will be dropped from your classes.

Please note: In order to receive a refund, students must officially drop from a course prior to the end of the add/drop registration period as published in the Seminole State catalog.

Why does Seminole State need my Social Security number?

Seminole State College recognizes that an individual's Social Security number is a unique form of identification that can be utilized to obtain sensitive information. However, Seminole State must collect Social Security numbers under certain circumstances in order to properly perform its duties and functions as an educational institution and to ensure that such duties and functions are performed accurately and efficiently.
