William Rickman was born and raised in Orlando and graduated from Boone High School where he played trumpet in the marching band. He completed his undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Central Florida, receiving a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1988 and a master's in mathematical sciences in 1992. As a graduate student, he researched fractals and began his teaching career at UCF as a graduate teaching assistant. Since coming to Seminole State, he has taught almost every math course from Basic Algebra to Calculus II.
