Life Transitions Program

Life Transitions (formerly New Directions) is a grant-funded state program sponsored by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO). The program helps qualified students achieve independence, economic security and self-sufficiency.

Women Life Transitions offers qualified students assistance with tuition, books, childcare stipends, uniforms, equipment, educational program-related expenses and consideration for emergency assistance.

The program can empower students to:

  • Establish independence
  • Build self-confidence
  • Become self-sufficient
  • Become economically secure
  • Transition from one role to another
  • Enter the job market confidently and competitively

Who Qualifies for Life Transitions?

To be considered for assistance, you must meet the indicated criteria and provide proof that you:

  • Are at least 35 years old
  • Have worked in a home providing unpaid household services to family members, or you are neither adequately employed nor earning a self-sufficient income
  • Have had or would have difficulty securing adequate employment
    • Have been dependent on the income of another family member but are no longer supported by such income, or have been dependent on federal assistance
