Course Reserve Materials
Accessing Reserve Items
Many professors at Seminole State place course support materials on reserve for their students. These materials may be from the library's collection, or they may come from the instructor's personal collection.
Course reserves are listed as "Reserves" in the LINCCWeb online catalog and are kept at the Information Services Desk (ISD) at the instructor's specified campus library. To access these resources, students must present their Blue & Gold Card to the ISD staff and request the item(s) by course name/number. An ISD staff member will tell students how long they can use each item and whether it can be removed from the library.
Placing Materials on Reserve
Faculty members may place library or personal materials on reserve for a designated period of time by completing a Library Course Reserve Request Form and submitting it to the ISD staff at the Sanford/Lake Mary, Oviedo, Altamonte Springs or Heathrow Campus. Faculty members must complete a reserve request form before placing items on reserve. Faculty may select the academic year of choice on the form to cover more than one term of consecutive use. The library follows appropriate copyright compliance laws and guidelines for all materials that are handled.
Instructors should make their reserve requests at least two weeks in advance of the start of classes each term to give the library staff ample time to process the library materials and place them on the course reserve shelves. Requests will be processed in the order they are received. Requests for materials to be relocated to another campus will be given consideration but should be made at least three weeks ahead of intended use. Arrangements will be discussed with the requestor.
Library materials will be placed back in the collection at the end of the designated reserve period. Faculty members are required to pick up any personal items as soon as the reserve period ends to make room for new course reserves on the shelves.
Here are some things for faculty to consider when placing a reserve request:
Library-owned materials, or materials personally owned by the requestor, placed on reserve must be copyright compliant. Seminole State copyright compliance guidelines for Library Reserve Services are based on:
