Library Instruction and OrientationInformation fluency (bibliographic instruction) sessions in the library are geared as much as possible to support instructors' curriculum goals. Faculty members are encouraged to review the library's online Research Study Guides and contact a librarian at the reference desk to suggest content or Web changes that would make study guides more effective. Information fluency sessions are usually conducted in the library but can be held in professors' classrooms. Notice is desired at least two weeks in advance when scheduling a librarian for classroom instruction, regardless of location. Walk-in classes are not permitted due to seating and staffing constraints. Notice is required at least two weeks in advance if faculty members need to have information updated in related study guides or library Web pages. Faculty members may call extension 2305 or complete the Library Instruction Request Form to schedule an instruction session on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. To reach the Oviedo Campus library, call extension 5062. For the library on the Altamonte Springs Campus, call extension 6026. Faculty members should submit a copy of their syllabus when requesting an instruction session. FeedbackFaculty members will be contacted a week or two after library instruction sessions are conducted to find out if the session and the resources presented in it met curricular goals, as well as to learn about student feedback from the session. Instructors are encouraged to respond frankly to help shape our instruction program and meet future needs. OrientationsLibrary orientations are walk-through tours and are generally conducted for students who are taking ESOL and/or adult high school classes.
