Fast Facts for Faculty Members

The collective libraries of the Sanford/Lake Mary, Oviedo, Altamonte Springs and Heathrow campuses operate as one unit, containing more than 139,000 resource items in their collections. College couriers send and receive materials between campuses every business day.

  • Faculty members are encouraged to assist in our efforts to build and maintain a quality collection, and to meet students' needs. To meet the goals of your courses, we encourage you to communicate to us which resources you would like to make available for your students. For detailed information, e-mail Linda Sutton, Associate Director Library Services, or call her at 407.708.2114.
  • Seminole State's "Virtual Library" is a part of the College's Web site, and it makes library resources and services easily accessible to all Seminole State students, as well as faculty and staff. Through the Seminole State Library home page, users have full access to online books and more than 85 online databases, including full-text periodicals, reference resources, eBooks and other index databases.
  • Research instruction sessions, presented by our librarians, can acquaint students with the specific library resources that are best suited for your course objectives. Many students are unprepared to use an academic library when they begin college. Good research habits develop faster when students are given a formal introduction to Seminole State's library resources. If you require your students to conduct research, contact a reference librarian at your preferred campus to schedule a library research instruction session.
