Did you know...

E-Readers

Kindle and Nook e-readers are now available by loan to students, faculty and staff with a valid Seminole State ID. Each e-reader kit includes a Kindle or Nook that has been preloaded with several library e-books. Kits also contain a power adapter and leather cover.

Borrowing and Loan Periods

Due to limited availability, e-readers may only be checked out for a two-week period and are not available for renewal. Upon return, e-reader kits will be inspected by library staff to ensure that the equipment is in good working order and that any unauthorized downloads are deleted.

When borrowing an e-reader, please do not:

• Return the equipment via book drop.
• Download any personal choices to the e-reader. (E-book selections must be purchased and/or downloaded by the library staff.)
• Alter library materials on the e-reader.

Available Titles

Each Kindle and Nook comes preloaded with various e-books that have been acquired by the Seminole State Library and are considered part of the library's collection. Visit the e-reader titles page for a comprehensive list of available e-books.

Fines and Fees

E-readers must be returned to the library by the end of the two-week loan period. If a Kindle or Nook is not returned on time, the borrower will be assessed a $5 late fee for each day the equipment is overdue.

Borrowers who lose or damage an e-reader and/or its accompanying accessories will be charged the full replacement value of the item(s) as well as a $5 processing fee.

Replacement costs are:

• Kindles 1-3: $189
• Kindles 4-10: $139
• Nook: $149
• Leather covers: $35
• Power adapters: $20

Payment for lost or damaged items is nonrefundable, even if the item in question is later recovered. Students who owe money to the College are not permitted to register for classes, order transcripts or graduate from Seminole State until all fees are paid.
