Evaluating Web Sites

How to Evaluate Web Sites

You need to evaluate the information you find on the Internet in the same way you would print materials. Ask yourself:

  • Who is the author?
  • Could this information be biased?
  • Is the site updated regularly?
  • If current information is needed, is it provided on this site?
  • Did you miss equally good, or better, information available in other resources?
  • Does the URL, or the Web address, give a clue about the site's usability or credibility? (Read "Consider the Source" for an informative discussion.)
