Technical ServicesThe Technical Service Section purchases library books and media, handles interlibrary loan requests, and catalogs all library resources to make them ready for use. The Technical Services Librarian and section staff maintain quality of the Seminole State Library collection, and frequently suggest to librarian liaisons and faculty that certain resources should be replaced, repaired, updated, etc. The Technical Services Librarian is also responsible for maintenance of all bibliographic records in the Seminole State Library Catalog, keeping open lines of communication (virtual and real) between our institution and individuals wishing to access our resources. Faculty are urged to assist in maintaining the currency and appropriateness of the library collection by recommending new print and non-print materials, and by advising library staff when materials in the collection have become obsolete and should be removed. Recommendations to purchase print (book) and non-print (audio-visual) materials may be submitted to Linda Sutton, Associate Director of Library Services, at ext. 2114, in room L-114. They may also be submitted via the Material Request Form on the Seminole State Library Web site. Contact Linda directly if you have questions about funding, ordering, time frame between request and "on the shelf," etc. Any questions regarding collection development or the addition of resources can be directed to Linda Sutton or Patricia DeSalvo, Dean of Libraries and Learning Technology, at ext. 2136, in room L-112. |
