Reference Services

Librarians and reference section staff assist Seminole State students, faculty and staff by guiding researchers to the most appropriate resources and demonstrating their use. Library users may interact with the reference staff in person, over the phone, by e-mail or via live chat reference service. Reference librarians also perform collection development, conduct orientations to the library, and create instruction sessions to familiarize classes with library resources for completing assignments and conducting research.

Instruction and Orientation

Librarians provide instruction in the use of the library, information literacy skills and methods of research to individuals or classes. Self-paced tutorials and streamed video orientations are also available.

Faculty may contact the Reference Desk at ext. 2305 to schedule library instruction on Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. They may also call ext. 5062 on the Oviedo Campus; ext. 6025 on the Altamonte Springs Campus; and ext. 4415 on the Heathrow Campus.
