Mission
The mission of Seminole State College's libraries is to partner in the educational process to provide the appropriate academic support for students, as well as faculty and staff members, interact with and engage users in the research process, and encourage lifelong learning.
The libraries support Seminole State's mission, goals and core values, as well, including:
- Collegiality and effective communication within our department and throughout the College.
- A positive work environment that advocates staff empowerment and development, is free of bias and emphasizes dignity and mutual respect.
- ALA intellectual freedom statements as guidelines for library practice and conduct.
- Seminole State's mission, vision, procedures and policies to conduct the business of the department.
- Informed and innovative use of information and technology in teaching, learning and research.
- Quality services to accommodate users' individual needs.
- Strategic partnerships to provide a range of services to students, as well as faculty and staff members.
- Reference and instructional services and resources to promote student success.
- Collaboration between faculty members to develop and enable students' lifelong critical-thinking and information-literacy-learning skills.
- Faculty involvement and staff participation in establishing and enhancing the libraries' collections and services.
- Continuing education opportunities for members of the library staff.

Vision
The vision of Seminole State's libraries is consistent with that of the College, to be renowned for its commitment to learning and its focus on individual student success. The library will support teaching and learning, and is committed to developing an information literate community where students will identify, access, evaluate, use and understand information. The library is committed to excellent service, the utilization of new technologies, and maintaining an ongoing environment of open inquiry and intellectual freedom.
