Patricia DeSalvo

Patricia DeSalvoPatricia DeSalvo, Dean of Libraries and Learning Technology, facilitates the development of the departments for Library Services and Multimedia Technology Services — across four campuses. She also serves as the College's head librarian.

As dean, DeSalvo is involved with the activities of the College as well as professional initiatives that promote the development of library services and staff across the state of Florida. Her current and former professional affiliations include the Florida Library Association (FLA), where she served as president from 1996-98 and has sat on numerous committees through the years; the American Library Association (ALA); the Florida Distance Learning Consortium (FDLC); and the Association of Florida Colleges (AFC). In 2006, DeSalvo was elected Chair of the Learning Resources Commission for the state's Council for Instructional Affairs (CIA/LRSC). From 2009-11, she served on the Board of Directors for the Central Florida Library Cooperative (CFLC).

Dean DeSalvo has served on the Advisory Board for the Center for College Library Automation (CCLA), where she was elected to the board's Executive Committee in 2005 and 2009 and reappointed to the CCLA Advisory Board for 2010-12. She currently participates in the work for the Task Force on the Future of Academic Libraries in Florida.

During her career, DeSalvo has worked in academic, public and special libraries in Florida, Pennsylvania and Illinois. She earned her bachelor of science degree from the University of Miami, where she majored in geography and biology and minored in languages. She earned a Master of Library Science degree from Florida State University.
