Sutton has participated in several professional associations and served on a number of committees, including the American Library Association, the Florida Library Association, the Florida College System and State University library standing committees, and the Central Florida Library Cooperative Board of Directors. She is the co-author of Cataloging Coast to Coast, which appeared in Technical Services Quarterly, and has given presentations on the topic. She has also delivered presentations about "Expanding Access to Resource Delivery," "Keeping up Without Getting Behind," the "Florida Heritage Project" and "Partnership to the Fourth Power." In 2009-2010, Sutton served on the Florida Statewide Primary Book Vendor INT Task Force. She currently sits on the Florida Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Board, Seminole State's Curriculum Committee and the Planning and Budget Committee. Sutton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Central Florida. She also has a master's degree in Library and Information Science from Florida State University and a Master Teaching Certificate in Developing Teaching Strategies for the Student with a Disability.
