PLA 2273 Torts

The Torts course involves the study of private wrongs — other than contract breaches — for which the law provides a remedy. Major subjects of study include: intentional torts, including battery, assault, false imprisonment and fraud; negligence, such as that occurring in automobile accidents and professional malpractice; and torts involving strict liability, such as those stemming from defective products and abnormally dangerous activities.

Torts is a core required course and a prerequisite for Legal Research and Writing I (PLA 1104). In terms of demand, it can be classified as an intermediate-level class.

This fall, day and evening classes are available on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. The day section will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m., and the evening section will be held on Tuesdays from 6-8:45 p.m. There are no prerequisites for this course.
