PLA 2203 Civil Litigation Procedures ICivil Litigation Procedures I, offered exclusively during the Fall Term, is a core requirement and a companion course to Legal Research and Writing II (PLA 2114). In order to get the most out of the Legal Studies Program and to avoid delays in graduation, students are encouraged to take both courses during the same semester. Civil Litigation Procedures I offers an in-depth exploration of the civil litigation process, taking students through complaint filing and pre-trial discovery procedures. During the course, students will study the rules of civil procedure and the general litigation process at length. They will also learn to prepare pleadings and motions, and will have the opportunity to participate in mock hearings. Like Legal Research and Writing II, Civil Litigation Procedures I is classified as a high-demand course. Students taking both classes simultaneously should keep this in mind when devising their fall schedules. Before registering, students are encouraged to speak with Dr. Green or Dr. Camenker to learn which additional classes should (or should not) be taken. This fall, Civil Litigation Procedures I is offered on Tuesday evenings from 6-8:45 p.m. on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. Prerequisites for the course are Legal Research and Writing I (PLA 1104) and Business Law I (BUL 2241). |
