Programs take students around the world

(July 14, 2010) Several honors students journeyed abroad in 2010 as part of Seminole State College's Travel Study programs. Itineraries included stops in India, Italy and Greece. Read more.

Dr. Laura Ross named Dean of Arts and Sciences

(June 2, 2010) The former director of the Art & Phyllis Grindle Honors Institute assumed her new position on June 1. Dr. Debbie Socci will serve as interim Honors Institute director for the 2010-11 academic year. Read more.

Honors student wins $30,000 transfer scholarship

(April 30, 2010) Colombia native Tatiana Viecco is one of only 40 students in the country to win a 2010 Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. She will use the funds to pursue joint bachelor's-master's degrees in industrial engineering at the University of Central Florida. Read more.

Honors student selected for global outreach conference

(April 16, 2010) Daniel Leon will attend former President Bill Clinton's annual Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) Meeting April 16-18 at the University of Miami. The Dr. Phillips High School graduate was invited to the event after submitting a detailed community service proposal in the area of poverty alleviation. Read more.

Seminole State announces 2011 study abroad opportunities

(March 31, 2010) Students, faculty, staff and community members can travel to Spain, Egypt or Southeast Asia as part of Seminole State's 2011 Travel Study programs. The trips will be organized by EF Educational Tours and accompanied by an optional three-credit course. Read more.

International Book Club announces Spring 2010 selection

(Feb. 5, 2010) Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to read Interpreter of Maladies, a collection of short stories by Jhumpa Lahiri. The Book Club will meet to discuss the selection on March 19. Read more.

Students flock to honors program

(Dec. 14, 2009) Recession-savvy honors students are increasingly choosing Seminole State for their first two years of college. Since Fall 2007, the number of students in the Art & Phyllis Grindle Honors Institute has surged from 110 to nearly 170. Read more.

War vet finds success at Seminole State

(Nov. 9, 2009) Army National Guard member Tara Guyher left school for a 10-month tour of duty in Iraq. After returning to American soil, she re-enrolled in classes and became an active member of the Art & Phyllis Grindle Honors Institute. Read more.
