Alumni Spotlight: NedaHometown: Altamonte Springs, Florida Notable Accomplishments/Awards: 2003 PTK Most Outstanding Member in Florida region, Honors Diploma, Science Merit Diploma, PTK president, leadership senator and service senator, nominee for the USA Academic Team, All-Florida Academic First Team, and Coordinator of the Day of Service Commemorating 9/11/01 Why did you choose Seminole State? I was in search of a good Honors Program, and I had appointments with several colleges in central and south Florida. I was not very impressed with most of the programs out there, but once I met Mrs. Beverly Bailey I knew I would be spending the next two years at Seminole State. She was the most welcoming and motivating advisor, and the programsâ?? classes were more appealing. Seminole State also offered more financial assistance. Why would you recommend Seminole State to a potential student? It is a great place to start. I don't know where I would be without Seminole State. How would you describe your "college" experience at Seminole State? Unforgettable. With all of the organizations and events available on campus, it is easy for any student to have a great college experience. How did your experience at Seminole State impact your life? It made me realize my true potential, from excelling in a class to leading a whole community in huge service projects. How would you describe your educational experience at Seminole State? Whoever said community college classes are easier is wrong. I am now a university student and I can honestly say that not only was I more challenged at Seminole State, but I learned a lot more in my classes. The faculty at Seminole State is amazing, you really don't know what you have until it is gone. What have you accomplished both personally and professionally since you graduated from Seminole State? I am continuing my college education at a Florida university as an honors student studying business administration.I am one of 16 on the volunteer leadership board (in charge of planning all of the service projects for the university). I am also the pledge community service chair for the largest organization on campus (Alpha Kappa Psi Business Professionals Fraternity), and very involved in the Honors Council. What are your activities and hobbies? Running long distance, being active in helping to solve community issues, educating myself in politics. |
