In which country were you born? Serbia (former Yugoslavia)

What languages do you speak? Serbian, Bosnian, English, French, Latin, some Spanish, some Russian.

What do you like the most about living in the USA? It gives me the freedom and independence to grow as an individual. The USA really is the land of opportunity where hard work is appreciated and valued.

Why did you choose Seminole State? Seminole State chose me. I didn't know where I was going when I left my country in August 2005, but a family friend recommended Seminole State. When I arrived at Seminole State, I knew that I didn't make a mistake. It was destiny. I love this college.

How would you describe your educational experience at Seminole State? It was very different than I expected. I had to adjust to studying in a foreign language, which was a real challenge. Then, unlike my country, I had an opportunity to choose the classes I wanted to take. I loaded up on math and the science courses, which I loved. Also, being in the Honors Institute gave me the opportunity to work with extraordinary professors and other students.

What are you planning to accomplish while you are in the USA and at Seminole State? My goal is to earn an advanced degree, but also to learn about different people and cultures. I don't know where the road will take me, but the time spent here in Seminole State has helped prepare me for life and whatever I decide to do.

What are your favorite activities and hobbies? I love the ocean and being on the beach, swimming, playing piano, belly dancing, diving and playing volleyball. But most of all, I love adventures and meeting new people.

How has your experience at Seminole State impacted your life? It was amazing. I was able to experience life as an American community college student - not many students from my country have the opportunity to do that. It opened doors to opportunities I hadn't even dreamt. From here, I can go anywhere. The people I met here helped me realize that it doesn't matter where I came from; it is who I am that matters.

Why would you recommend Seminole State to another international student? Seminole State is a great institution for international students. It is a friendly and warm environment and offers great academics. I came here by myself without my family but at Seminole State, I never really felt alone. Through Leadership Retreats, small Honors classes and upper level science courses, I got a chance to make a lot of friends who helped me grow, gain confidence and build a new family away from my home.

How would you describe your "college" experience at Seminole State? I am going to miss Seminole State. I had an incredible time, both in classes and outside with my friends. All you need to do is to ask, and all doors will be opened for those who want to succeed.
