International Student Spotlight: DornetteClass: 2007 In which country were you born? Bermuda What languages do you speak? English What do you like the most about living in the USA? There are so many different opportunities here, especially for individuals pursuing the arts. Why did you choose Seminole State? I choose Seminole State because of the student/teacher ratio. It was important for me to have teachers who know my name, not who identify me as a number. How would you describe your educational experience at Seminole State compared to what you might experience in your home country? Bermuda is a great place for education, but is limited in the courses that are offered. At Seminole State, students can stretch their imagination and make their dreams a reality. What are you planning to accomplish while you are in the USA and at Seminole State? I have already written two children's books, which I hope will be published soon. I have also written a few Reggae Christian songs that I would like to record, plus I have always had a dream of hosting a Christian talk/music show. Shadowing Oprah or interning at Harpo would be amazing. I am also working toward putting together a single mother's network, as I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be. What are your favorite activities and hobbies? Reading, singing, acting, writing and listening to poetry. How has your experience at Seminole State impacted your life? It has allowed me to focus more on making my dreams a reality. Why would you recommend Seminole State to another international student? In order to achieve something different, you need to try something new. Seminole State is a great place for students looking to make a change. |
