Steps to Enroll: International Students

Seminole State College has a proud history of enrolling a diverse population of students. Students at the College represent 92 countries. If attending Seminole State as an international student sounds like a destination to you, then follow these steps toward admission. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Admissions.

1. Complete an Application for Admission
You have several options for applying to Seminole State College: Note: At the time, international students cannot use the online application.
2. Complete the International Student Form and Provide Supporting Documents
To obtain an International Student Form:

Supporting Documents:

An International Processing Fee of 50 U.S. dollars is required. Overseas applicants must use an international money order.

You must also submit:

  • A clear photo copy of your passport identification page with a current expiration date.
  • A formal color photograph (passport size only).

Financial Support Documents:

All documents must be written in English. (An official translation conducted in the applicant's home country or in the United States is acceptable.) A translator/interpreter seal or stamp is required, and only original documents will be accepted (no facsimiles or photo copies).

  • Item A: Current Bank Letter - The letter must be on official bank letterhead, with an original stamp or seal, and an official signature from a bank representative. It must indicate when the account was opened, the type of account, and the average and current balance in U.S. dollars. This document cannot be more than six months old.
  • Item B: Affidavit of Support with Notarization Stamp - It is possible to have more than one sponsor. The sponsor(s) do not have to reside in the United States, nor do they have to be family relatives.
  • Item C: Employment Verification Letter - This letter must be on business stationery and include an original seal or stamp as well as an official signature from the company or institution. It must state the sponsor's job title, annual or monthly salary (if paid on hourly basis, how much he/she makes per hour and how many hours he/she works per week), and the length of time employed with the company.
  • Item D: Scholarship Letter - The scholarship letter must be printed on business or government stationery and indicate the dollar amount of the award and what the award covers.

Please note:

  • If the student is acting as his/her own sponsor, only Item A is required.
  • If the student has one or more sponsors, each sponsor must provide items A, B and C (as supplement, if needed).
  • Item D is for scholarships only. Item B is also sometimes required, depending on the source of the scholarship.

Please refer to "Financial Support Documents for F-1 Immigration Purposes" for further details.

3. Provide Your Official Foreign Education Transcripts
Have your high school diploma or university transcript evaluated by World Education Services or Josef Silny and Associates Inc., and submit it to the Seminole State Records Office:

Your evaluated educational transcripts must be received before an I-20 can be issued for college credit.

Please Note: Transcripts are not required to enroll in the English Language Institute.

Make an appointment with the embassy in your home country. Present the required documents and your I-20 to obtain an F-1 visa.
