Fire Science

Fire Investigator I Certification

To be certified as a fire investigator I in the State of Florida, students must:

  • Be a Florida state-certified firefighter, fire safety inspector or police officer.
  • Successfully complete 160 hours of basic certification training for fire investigators or have received equivalent training in another state.
  • Pass a written examination. Click here to review the testing schedule for test dates, locations and application deadlines.
  • Download the Fire Officer I Application for all necessary forms.
Applicants must submit their documentation of training, the required application for the Fire Investigator I Certification Examination (DI4-1438) and a personal injury waiver (DI4-1020) at least 10 business days prior to the scheduled test date.
