![]() About the Fire Science Technology Program
This program combines major courses, such as fire investigation, hazardous materials, fire protection systems and fire company administration, with a well-rounded general education curriculum. Specialty courses and training meet the State Bureau of Fire Standards' requirements and are designed to prepare students for the Fire Officer I and Fire Inspector state certification exams. Fire science students who seek entry-level employment as firefighters must take the vocational Fire Fighting Minimum Standards course, which is available at Seminole State. All fire science programs are fully accredited and supported by local fire departments and the Seminole County Fire Training Directors' Committee. The Fire Academy features a newly remodeled state-of-the-art burn building complex, which allows Seminole State to offer more advanced courses in firefighting and emergency rescue while providing students with one of the most advanced training fire facilities in Florida.
