Payment/Deferment of FeesSeminole State uses a net check system for all financial aid programs except Federal Work Study. Therefore, fees that have been deferred will be automatically deducted from the total award starting with the first financial aid check issued. Financial Aid DefermentThe State Board of Community Colleges permits the deferral of registration and tuition fees for students who receive financial aid from federal or state assistance programs when such aid is delayed through circumstances beyond the control of the student. You must complete an online deferment form each semester if you receive some type of financial assistance. A deferment is a postponement of fee payment past the standard deadline to allow payment by anticipated or processed financial aid programs. You must complete and sign the deferment form. Any balance owed that is not covered by the financial aid deferment must be paid by your payment deadline to avoid losing your courses. If you withdraw from Seminole State or are found ineligible for financial assistance after the add/drop period, you will still owe the full amount of the deferment. Disbursement of FundsDisbursement of financial aid checks takes approximately three weeks; therefore, it is essential that you set aside personal funds to cover expenses incurred during this time. You will not be able to receive your entire award if you have registered for classes that do not start at the beginning of the regular semester. Funds will be withheld until enrollment can be verified once classes are in progress. Please check with the Student Financial Resources Office at 407.708.2045 if you have enrolled in some of these courses and would like to find out when your funds will be disbursed. Checks are mailed to the address the student has on file through their MySeminoleState account. |
